eightymesh | Re: old post: stone age copper mine the upper penninsula of michigan is loaded with loose copper nuggets as well as northern ohio. there is a fella that sells panning bags at the gold shows from that area. he was sayin he found a copper nugget in the lake as big as a box car (miners tale?) one of our club members took a trip metal detecting there and came home with a 200 pound copper nuggy .. so an ancient mine ? probably started by pickin them off the surface |
dickb | Re: old post: stone age copper mine Iron ore deposits yes! Some lead and silver, coal and oil deposits, but I've lived here all my life and don't recall hearing of copper deposits. Dickb |
oldstyle | old post: stone age copper mine I read a long post several years back concerning stone age copper mines along the great lakes. The material was from an 1800's book. I have not been able to get the search function to give me any reults. Any ideas? |
