ScrubRe: 10" Dredge on the South Fork of the Fortymile River
Hi Dick. I'll ask around when I get to Chicken. We fly up next week, I'll retrieve my Jeep (TX plates, Grand Cherokee Laredo) in North Pole & drive up. I still plan to be there by late 6/12 and leave the next morning for Eagle, but will be glad to meet you. Hope to see you then.

P.S.- If I have trouble starting my Jeep (I've stored it since late last June), I may not get to Chicken until mid-6/13. Thanks for your reply.

Regards,
Glenn (Scrub)

Hi Scrub...
Be great to meet you. I'll be around.
I'm only abt 2 miles up the creek from Jim's
cabins.

Dick

Scrub,
He is located some 28 miles downriver from the Southfork bridge. There is NO cell phone service there. Last time that I was in Chicken, there was no cell service there either. I think that Dean did manage to set up a dish for some internet service, but usual contact is via satellite phone. And even that is unreliable.

Hi Dick. I live in Texas. I'll be in Chicken & Eagle this Spring. I plan to stay in one of Jim Swearingin's cabins in Chicken on June 12 or 13; then the Eagle B&B June 13-14 or 14-15 before heading South. Maybe you can look me up or I can look you up, if you'll tell me where u'r located. I go by Scrub on this website, but my real name is Glenn Elms. I worked in in Fire Control in the Fortymile Area in 1975-78. (Tok, '75 on a helitack crew; 76-77 as Fire Guard Station Mgr. in Eagle ... which is now the NPS Office; then Area Dispatcher in Tok in '78). I'm now retired.
This'll probably be my last trip up to my old "stomping ground". I'll buy you a cup of coffee if you'll give me u'r cell # or a location where we could meet.
In any event, good luck this season.
Regards,
Glenn

Glad to be back Dick. The water is as low as it was mid June last year. We put a 6" dredge in the water for a guest today. He came up 3 weeks early.

The 10" should be dredging in about a week. Some parts are ordered but haven't come into Fairbanks yet.

Thought you might like some pictures here this morning from the goldfeverprospecting camp. This is a 10" dredge that is used down here on the claims. We brought it up to camp for some needed repairs. Dean has 2 sons that will be operating it this year. The spring weather has been fantastic this year so far.
