Re: New highbanker

For giggles and yawns though. I have already started fabricating a 36Lx20w extension sluice with legs. Decked out w/ backed moss and expanded metal. Just crap I had in the shop really. But if I run all day with regular clean ups and check the tail sluice at the end of the day. it should give me a pretty good guage on the G-1's recovery. I don't doubt that the G-1 is a good piece of equipment. this is more a buffer for me until I get used to how the unit works. And it will be a good way for me to document the units performance as evidence for others to review.

tabwyo,

Man, I am so glad you are putting together a secondary recovery sluice for the G-1!

I installed secondary recovery systems on the G-1 when I was testing it. You doing it is much better!

I can't wait for your first report!

Thanks,
Joel

@ tabwyo thanks for the reply, I to am waiting for your report,
vid/pics please

@goldrushpro do you have the 2.5 inch dredge bracket, since you have no add on on your web site (recommended) love to online shop not talk on the phone
OK @ 22 pounds bare bones that puts it in there with my keene sluice/ hopper/legs set up, don't know why I thought it was less.....
Still have ease of clean up.
and high capture rate, pending indpendant tests

I know with my wife and I shoveling as a highbanker that one of us (me) landed up "tending" the keene unit this is another reason the G-1 looks appealing.

Ultra fine gold recovery system is in place. We have to redesign the power screen this week to work properly and then we'll run some gravel...

BTW, azkid

The reason I am putting together a tail sluice is because in order to run the G-1 as a dredge I may have to run at a GPM rate that isn't condussive to ultra fine gold retention. And it gives me a chance to run the dredge material over yet a finer classification screen and then over another run in nopes of catching every spec. I could easily rig up my Le Trap as the tail sluice. but I thought it would be more interesting to run the runoff from the G-1 over more conventional recovery media and post the results.

But I will run the tail sluice when I highbank just to post the results. Both on shoveld gravels/dirt and on pre-classified material.

Re: New highbanker

I am seriously still interested in this product.. I just wanted to clear some air about it early on..

There were alot of things that didnt add up and then random people that just register and defend the product.

If it works as good as advertised and discussed I will be looking forward to one later on in the summer once I recover from my Lower Back Disk replacement..

but I am intrigued as to the effectiveness of this piece of equipment.

but it sounds like a good idea to run it at the tail to see what your losing and the fine gold and any suspended gold stops in the G-1

I might even buy one before I am recovered to set it up in my shop as a test running machine to see what I lost with my A52.

Dredgeguy

I'd be interested in any advice regarding the G-1. I'd really dig pics of it in action (aside from the demo vid). I got the pump and hoses, now all I need is the G-1 and I'll be turnin dirt.

hahah I wish... na just eagerly awaiting the results of the test comparison so I can figure out if I am gonna get one or not.

I am eagerly awaiting the video whenever someone gets one of the G-1's and puts a metered amount of gold in some material and runs it through several different sluice to see the effeciency compared to others.

Re: New highbanker

Joel, have you had a chance yet to try out your G-1 in an area with small shards of broken bedrock or small flat rock, do they get caught up in the drop riffles at all?

Re: New highbanker

Greg_in_BC,

No, I haven't run the G-1 in that type of broken flat bedrock. I can't say how it would react?

I'll ask the locals and see if someone knows where some of that type of material is around here and run some to see.

It may be awhile though. The snow is off down in town but not in the Mountains around here.

Thanks,
Joel

Yeah - sorry!

The 2.5 inch dredge attachment bracket itself is $26.00 dollars.

I've gotton six kinds of busy this winter when normally I'd be looking for something to do! I've just been jumping on the forum here and there and missed your question.

Thanks,
Joel

Re: New highbanker

The unit arrived this evening. Set up in 5 minutes. Once I figured out which side was up on the frame... lol. It's a ton sturdier than it appears to be in the demo video. And the riffles are alot deeper than they apear. I can definetly see how they grab the gold now. Next weekend I'll get it fired up and running dirt.

Re: New highbanker

Joel, another question for you

Most of the pics of your G-1 I have seen with gold show the upper box with the drop riffles.

Have you done any tests to find what % of gold is catching in the top as compared to the lower box? Any difference in % in the size classification splits?

Thanks for taking the time to answer.

Re: New highbanker

Greg_in_BC,

Most of the controlled tests on the G-1 have been on the tailings coming off the end of the lower sluice. . And of course every gold deposit would show different results in the % and size that was in the hopper compaired to the lower sluice.
But one great thing is - so far every test has shown about 95% to 98% of the gold never makes it out of the hopper. And most of the tests were performed on the gravels from central Oregon where the gold deposit is the toughest. This deposit is extra tough, with a large portion of the paying gold being minus 100 mesh all the way down to the very finest gold. It is an excellent test medium due to this ultra fine gold and shows the capability of the drop trap riffles in the hopper. The lower sluice in strictly for ultra fine gold or the ocasional peice of "tin foil" that gets through and is essentially a secondary recovery system.

Thanks,
Joel

PLEASE do not forget to add the 2.5 dredge adapter.
Thank you.
