Tell Me About Hydraulic Elevators.

On the recent thread called "Bucketline Dredges Alive" vortxrex posted about his machine for dredging on dry land. I know there has been some discussion of these machines in the past on this forum, but can anyone tell me more about how they work and what kind of equipment is needed? What kind of nozzle is used? How much water needs to be pumped? What kind of piping or hoses are used? Etc. I would be especially interested in hearing from vortxrex.

Re: Tell Me About Hydraulic Elevators.

Here are a couple of videos which show the equipment & should answer most of your questions. First one is from 2004 & the second one is from 2005

The equipment is powered by a 16 HP Briggs Vanguard w/ the P355S pump. The Trommel is powered by the 13.8 VDC alternator which is built into the Vanguard engines flywheel.

Dave,

I'd forgotten that you got such good video of that 2005 trip to the Klamath! That was sure a fun time and I still think your vortex machine is the greatest-- For those that haven't seen it, be sure to if you have the chance.

I remember some old time info online for hydraulic elevators- could be in Google books. Some of them lifted dozens if not hundreds of feet!

Re: Tell Me About Hydraulic Elevators.

Hi Steve, yes that was a great trip we made  Hard to believe it was five years ago.

Its a little tricky for me to post the video from that trip because it was originally recorded in 8mm analog format & I have to convert it to DV before I can upload it

Here is one more pic from 2004 in Central Washington State:

Re: Tell Me About Hydraulic Elevators.

Dave, are you still in development stage or are you selling some of your nozzles now?

Might have that spot I have been looking for  Greg

Re: Tell Me About Hydraulic Elevators.

Thanks for all the replies. I have not yet looked at the videos, but I intend to. I have been out of town at my claims. While I was out there I set up my dredge and a second pump with a hose and nozzel. I was able to dig a hole on dry land using the hose to supply water for the dredge. I think this concept has potential for an area I am interested in.
