Sluice vibrator powered by water flow

Has anyone tried vibrating a sluice/hopper using the same force that vibrates your car antenna when you drive at certain speeds? Its called Vortex Induced Vibrations and it can apearently cause vibrations powerfull enough to destroy buildings, bridges, oil rigs, airplanes, etc. if not prpoerly designed for. Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone else has tried this yet before I start messing around with it. If you want more info look at the wikipedia page or for (much) more in-dpeth, look here: http://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/handle/2027.42/55687

Not what you are talking about.
But, our 45' sluice has about 8 feet hanging in the air in operation. Sometimes it hums very noticably. I have always wondered if it helped the gold settle.

As far as I can tell, waveform makes a big difference in how vibrations effect gold recovery. The safest seems to be an oscilation on the X-Y plane (parralell to the ground).

Have you looked at the new Quicksand Concentrator at all and studied how it works? The material I've gone over regarding VIV, since reading this thread, has given me an idea on how to enhance the performance of the Quicksand Concentrator.
Take a look at this new concentrator, if possible, and I'll explaon my idea to you.
Regards
Bob
