NARRABEEN BOULDERING ACADEMY

Anthony 1st climbed and cleaned here (back in May) and removed lots of the match sticks (burnt trees) from around the boulders. Most of the problems were sieged over a few w/ends, and ticked, save a few of the highballs, then little interest seemed to be given to the area, untill I discovered in July, and went thru a similar process of cleaning, climbing and ticking most of the problems over about 4 weeks. Since a chance meeting thru flickr, have hooked up with the original climber and rocked the highballs. Renaming of problems, boulders etc pending.

Set off the Wakehurst parkway, 300m west of the “Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation” entrance, is a bouldering boutique offering around 30 problems of varying degree, graded from V0 ---> V4 and beyond.

Access is opposite the big gravel carpark and road sign that says “Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation, Entrance 300m”.

ROAD BLOCK

This is the tall boulder closest to the road, problems top out.

RBT V3

Road Block Traverse.

V0

The face left of the aręte on the left side of the boulder, near downclimbs.

V0

Rounded aręte left side of the boulder.

V1

The face just right of the aręte. Reachy.

V0

Follow jugs up to delicate move.

V1

Up middle of boulder realatively easily, then scary highball slopers near the top.

J Walking V3

Up realatively easily to heinous mantel onto sloper ramp to topout.

Ditch Witch V2

Aręte with undercut start in ditch. Great sustained highball.

There are good highball lines on the right side of the block. (See pic, far boulder.)

Double Dyke V3

Difficult start, follow the 1st streak up to double sided scoop (dyke), tops out right. Nice juggy highball.

Sourpuss V2

Starts at weird 'sourpuss' impression, climb either side of the third streak.

The main face has 4 lines.

Bumpin Uglies V4

Step up into sidepull, then slopers and crimps over bulge and topout.

?

Brick in the wall V1

Starts around the right side, jug around bulging corner onto 'bricks', then up to crimps, left over bulge, topout.

Lady lumps V1

Start at 'lumps', then up and over, top out.

Up the hill is steep black and gold boulder.
