"Out beyond ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing there is a field. I'll meet you there." ----- Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi, 13th century Sufi poet.

"Have faith that people do their best. I don't know anyone who would eat with pigs out of a trough in a muddy barnyard if he knew that a well-prepared meal was on the table in a clean house - do you?" Greg Baer

"The Secret in healing Narcissism is not to heal it at all, but to listen to it. Narcissism is a signal that the soul is not being loved sufficiently. The greater the Narcissism, the less love being given." ~ Thomas Moore, 'Care of the Soul'.

Q. Is it really possible to heal NPD?

A. Anything is possible. You do not have to be a negative statistic on a probablity curve of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder

I have just finished the layout for a book and its ready to go to the printers - I'm feeling really pleased with how its looking. The wind is blowing and we had a little rain today - only a little but when you're in the 2 year long drought and it's coming into bushfire season, any rain is welcome!

I'm thankful for this community. My spouse brings home a regular paycheck, doesn't drink or use, doesn't hang out in bars, doesn't cheat, so the people who don't know me well think I'm crazy to be unhappy in my relationship, and the people who do know me well (but don't know about the abuse) know there must be a good reason but have no clue as to why. Here, the folks with NPD or narcissistic tendencies (and we all have a few if we're human!) and the family/friends all seem to know exactly what I'm going through. It helps so so much!

Ok, I want us to make at least 1000 so my other good thing will be another post...

My day started with a very positive meeting with my psychologist. I told him about this community and the hope I've rediscovered through positive support. There's still a lot of sadness but these were tears of joy.

I scored a 92 on my midterm Sociology exam! Not bad considering I was terrifed of flunking. Must be a combination of a mircacle and studying. :claphands: It feels good to have the grades back on the right track.

I've agreed to evaluate a speech tonight at Toastmasters. I've only done one other eval and I sucked big hairy dog legs. Evaluating a speech is much more challenging than giving a speech. I've been asked to be an evaluator several times before and would not do it. Feels good to be ready to try again.

CONGRATULATIONS BIKERBOY!! I'm thrilled for you! I'm sure your success is a combination of motivation and studying.

Thank you TC for your suggestions to get signed back in. Whew!

Cheers!
Life

My daughter has decided that Tuesday night is her night to fix dinner. The initial plan was for me to help but after the eggs she dosen't trust me in the kitchen, so I get to relax and work at the computer. I can get used to this. Sometimes healing is letting others pamper you a bit.

Congratulations on your exam results, Biker Boy.

This afternoon I went to my youngest son's school as they were being visited by five Buddhist monks from India who were going to give a demonstration of chanting and dancing.
There were three dances.

The first was the Snow-Lion Dance. The snow-lion is not afraid af any other animal and the dance was to remind people that they need to put away any fear in their lives - they must be strong and face the fear.

The second was the Deer Dance. The Tibetan deer is an inquisitive animal which harms no others and listens carefully to everything around it. That dance was to remind people to take care of each other and of nature and to listen to others.

The third was the Yak Dance. The yak, although a gentle creature, is large and hairy with horns - rather fearsome-looking. That dance was to remind people to look beneath the exterior of others - even though they might appear loathsome or frightening, there might be something very different inside.

The whole experience of the chanting and the dancing has left me feeling peaceful and with some things to think about.

Linda

Fantantastic news on the exam score ,Bikerboy! :claphands:

Having A Life, I am glad you were able to resolve the problem with logging in. I hope your speech evaluation went well. I enjoy talking but I don't know how much I would like that role.

I'm feeling great this morning because this is my day for meeting with my therapist. This is an exciting time in the work we're doing together as I try and heal some of the deepest wounds. Its hard work, but very rewarding. I'm finding that healing really can be fun. :cookiemonster:

I have being dealing with a kind of serious problem for a week now and so far I haven't acted out or felt the need to do anything to anyone. It feels good not to always have to do what's gotten me in trouble in the past.

I don't have to work today. In that the past I would drink or get high and raise hell on a day like this. I'm trying to make a committment to find ways to improve where I'm at in the time that I don't have to work. This is one of the first real pledges Ive made to myself. I hope I want to keep it but I know itll be hard.
