"Out beyond ideas of right-doing and wrong-doing there is a field. I'll meet you there." ----- Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi, 13th century Sufi poet.

"Have faith that people do their best. I don't know anyone who would eat with pigs out of a trough in a muddy barnyard if he knew that a well-prepared meal was on the table in a clean house - do you?" Greg Baer

"The Secret in healing Narcissism is not to heal it at all, but to listen to it. Narcissism is a signal that the soul is not being loved sufficiently. The greater the Narcissism, the less love being given." ~ Thomas Moore, 'Care of the Soul'.

Q. Is it really possible to heal NPD?

A. Anything is possible. You do not have to be a negative statistic on a probablity curve of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder

The role of spiritual healing and becoming a whole person has been gradually becoming more important in my life. This week during the worst of the insanity I found myself making tell to meditate and simply be in the moment. It may have saved me from doing and saying things I know I would deeply regret.

This is an ointeresting weekend as my 14 year old nephew and his best friend are spending it with me. I guess this is my opportuntiy to learn the joys of being a parent, kind of. Actually its more about being a big brother, which is cool since I'm the youngest of seven. At any rate my inner child is ready to have some fun. :cookiemonster:

My kids have done such a good job over the last few months of helping around the house that I surprised them on their first day of Christmas vacation by serving breakfast in bed. It felt good to acknowledge their contribution and have some fun at the some time.

OK, the guys will probably roll their eyes at this one but...

It is my company Christmas party tonight and I just spent the last four hours getting ready. A long bath in oil, blow drying, curling irons, hot rollers, precisely applied make up. Such a girl thing, but I can't remember the last time I spent more than 20 minutes to get ready and rush out the door without hardly looking in the mirror to see if the kids had smeared peanut butter on my shirt!

Sometimes it's good to be a girly girl!

Later!

Mel

Well, I tried something new as I loaded the dishwasher with the dinner dishes. Instead of listing in my head everything I hadn't gotten done today, I thought about what I had gotten done. I paid the bills. I went to the post office. I did a load of laundry. I took my son out to lunch. I did a load of dishes. And, miracle of miracles, I cleaned 1/2 of the kitchen. I put away toys and put away more toys, keeping an aisle cleared to get across the house! And to reward myself for the most exhausting therapy week ever, I took a nap. I may not be functioning as well as I'd like to, but I am functioning, by God! And Mel has inspired me to do something girly after my son is asleep-- maybe a long bath with lavender oil in the water, then flannel jammies and reading myself to sleep!

All these hot baths and soaking in oil, etc sound just the thing!!

Today I did more housework - boring stuff but I cleaned out a lot of papers - old bills etc that just got shoved in a drawer - or 2!! And I made a start on Christmas cards. I know it's late to be doing that but I never sent any last year as I could not bring myself to write them. I found it hard - a few times I started to include my ex's name in the 'with love from' part but I did them and they're all ready to be posted tomorrow!

Last nigh I received a call from my best friend in high school. It was the first time we've talked in long time. It wsa good to sit shoot the bull and not worry about much of anything for an hour or so. Not one mention of NPD. I think we all need more of these moments than we seem to get.

Hard seeing what was positive today. My son was cranky, I was down on myself, etc. But the sky was blue. I am alive. I am trying to grow. Good nuff, I guess.

I finally got around to starting my Christmas shopping today and I finished it with time to spare to go shoe shopping for myself. I didn't buy any shoes, but at least I got my Christmas shopping done. :cookiemonster:
