Had my spaaaaaah day. It was excellent self-care, especially considering that at this point in my life I am seldom touched in a nurturing way. Hell, I'm seldom touched period, but I trust that one day this too will pass. Hope so, anyway!!! Until then,a nice massage, manicure, pedicure, facial, is very very wonderful!!!

Dante its good to see you roaming around the community. School is officially started and this week I met with my adivsor.Without any prompting from me he opened our meeting by commenting that I did much better than he expected last semester and that I seem to have a lot more energy and dedication to school. It felt good to hear someone say that because I feel much the same way about how things are going. All I can say is I hope I can live up to this standard this semester.

Good news bikerboy.

My positives today are much more ordinary, and I feel really good about them. I got up and went to the gym to work out. Then I came home and wrote. I've been writing every day, M-F, until I reach a specified number of words. I don't write much each day; my son is just too demanding, plus I'm learning to write a novel as I go along, which is demanding too, plus everything else. But I am really glad that today I did these two things that help my life feel more meaningful.

I think we should have a community spa day. :cookiemonster:

In other news I decided that its time for me to look at housing outside of my parents home. This is a big step for me and I'm nervous about it but I think for a lot of reasons the time is right. I've been looking at classified ads this morning and see a couple of places that look interesting. Right now I'm kind of stalling, but I get busy here in a few minutes. probably.

I know the weather really stinks, but come on people! Where are the positives?

It seems that I am also at the bottom of the barrel, but I'll share what I got: Tonight, my son got out of bed, and came and got me to go potty. It would've been what we moms refer to as a "dirty" diaper so I was especially pleased. He also wanted to wear "big boy" underwear to school today instead of a pullup, and only had one accident. He has had no interest in going potty for a very long time, so this is all good news. Not sure how it contributes to my healing, but hey, we take what we can get in this life.

I looked at an apartment that I really like and I think I can afford. I'm still looking but the more I think about this the more it feels right to me. I talked with my parents and they seem cool about it. So maybe I can get something done in the near future.

Hi all

I'm just gettin back from a nice lunch date with my new "girlfriend". We ate in the park despite freezing temps. It was great. There was some little kid throwing snowballs for his dog to chase. It made me want to get out and run around like a little boy. I'm still not preoccupied with sex, so this is interesting to me.

This past week I have gotten back to soaking in the tub and doing at least half hour meditations each morning. I got away from it when things got a little crazy during the holidays. I know I need to do it worst when things are crazy so hopefully I learned this lesson. I feel much more relaxed over the last couple of days.

I was called into my bosses office this morning without any prior notice or explanation of what was coming. I learned my boss is being transfered to Florida and that beginning in the middle of next month I am the Interim head of our department. He thinks I have a good shot at getting this job on a permament basis if I want it. The question I'm struggling with is do I want it. I think this is a good thing but I feel a combination of excitment and panic. At least for now I'll count this as a positive.

Lots of great positives! Taran, it's so great you're getting your own place. Zachery, I'm glad you can let your inner child out around this woman, and that you're having fun and relating to her as a person. TC, thanks for the reminder about the extra importance of self-care and meditation when things are craziest-- I tend to forget that one, too. Weissfamily, how cool that you can actually try the job out for awhile first!!!

My son was at his Parent's Day Out today, so I cleaned a bit, then took myself and a good book out to lunch, ran some errands, and went to my first adult piano lesson. (I took lessons from 3rd grade until 8th grade, but haven't played in about 20 years.) It felt so BALANCED, doing a little for my home and son, a little of what I had to get done, and a little "just for the joy of it" for myself. I am really starting to LIVE my life. I've been able to do this for a few weeks at a time in the past before guilt or my husband's needs or something got in the way. But really, I've been doing this for about six months now, and I can see myself slowly getting better and better at the balance. And I feel so much less anger and bitterness, though it pops out sometimes, especially here. But the more you live your own life, the easier it is to begin to forgive.
