Q. Is it really possible to heal NPD?

My oldest daughter landed the lead role in her schools production of Cinderella. I'm not sure which of us is more excited. I like the role of proud parent. I could get used to this.

:ego:

Spring is definitely coming. Just ask my son who has started a countdown to springbreak.

Two positives today. I just made "Healing Postaholic"! (When your home with a preschooler, anything that makes you feel like you've accomplished something is good.) And... I have two friends coming over. We're going to have an old fashioned slumber party. Just to be clear, we're talking three post-menopausal women here. Any NPDer with lewd or lashcivious thoughts needs to go to the therapist immediately-- you've been misdiagnosed!!! Hes

Congratulations on making it to Healing Postaholic!!! :claphands:

I see people here making progress and that might be the most positive thing going right now. Its good not to be stuck. It gives others hope to see people going ahead with their lives.

I too noticed how much healing we are doing. The board seems to be growing by leaps and bounds and we are becoming quite chatty! I think it's great.

Going to spend a quiet weekend with my two favorite men! (That would be my boys').

Have a great weekend everyone!

Mel

Did something hard today-- faced a fear and released a hope in one single moment. Was left with the choice I knew I'd be left with-- i could feel ashamed or be proud of myself for being emotionally brave enough to get the information I needed even though it meant someone i respect and admire is probably going to be more convinced than ever that I am a nutcase. I feel like I've lost any and all claim to being in the 74%, but you know what? Doing what I needed to do for myself and deciding it didn't really matter what someone else thought-- though it was an ouch-- was putting myself first. It was embarrassing, but I faced it. And this person might think I'm crazy, but being willing to risk facing up to who I am and being responsible to protect myself and my son makes me feel like I have my integrity back.

tt occurs to me the fact that my therapist thinks I no longer qualify as NPD is one of the biggest positives I can ever achieve.

Its interesting to watch this community come together. People with NPD issues are often so reluctant to open up. We may never be as chatty as some communities but I like the way things are progressing.

Well, first I get to boast. I played my coach in a tennis match, and beat him 11-9 in a game to 11. This is the same coach who once played Tommy Robredo, who's now the #15 player in the world, and lost to him 7-6 in the third set. I played out of my mind in the game yesterday though. It just shows that when you really work you can play with anybody.

But personally, I'm coming to realize that all the angry thoughts that I fend off each day are actually my true self trying to get through to me somehow and make me realize that there's a lot of pain that I'm not in touch with. It's scary, and I want to keep running away, but I'm gradually realizing that maybe it's time to listen to myself a little more.

Matt

Way to go, Matt :claphands: I'm packed and ready for my apartment and the next chapter of my life. I'm scared but ready to go, I guess.

Good luck with your new apartment, taran.

My positive for today is that I thought my car would be in the shop all weekend and was going to cost me over $400, but it turned out my mechanic was able to fix the problem today and the bill only came to about $95. So the old piece of Doo doo has managed to survive yet another day, and I don't have to be a prisoner in my apartment all weekend. :claphands:
