Another Circuit Board For The Drozd Family

A few of you may remember Sergeys' "Small Board" he developed some time ago for an AK airsoft gun. He has now beefed up the design to handle higher voltages, and RPM. I will be purchasing a couple from him set for 4k, and putting them through a torture test. He asked that I reach out to the forums in order to gauge interest, and to see what RPM people would like to have the boards set at. They are single shot, or full auto like the Small Board, but are no longer restricted to 900 RPM.

Because of the way these boards are manufactured they have to be made a dozen at a time so this leaves ten other boards up for grabs. If you have some of your own solenoid based gun designs in mind this is a great tool to help you develop without breaking the bank. Here is the email I received yesterday describing the improvements.

"Hi partner.

I've just finished working on that intermediate board layout. It's size will be 1.25 by 1.35 inches. It'll be about 1/2 inch thick when assembled and packed in heat shrink tube. See the file in the attachment -- a group of 12 boards ready for production. Maybe my Russian partner will ask me to reduce the number of boards in this file to 9 though.

Main improvements:
- bigger transistor to control mag motor (virtually no limit in terms of current)
- bigger voltage regulator (possibly it will be able to work at up to 24 volts -- still needs to be checked for heat dissipation when fully assembled)
- bigger "catch diodes" -- those parts protect the board from voltage spikes when working with inductive components like solenoid and mag motor
- better copper traces layout for higher current values

You may announce on the forum this board to see the market soon and ask people what ROF they will prefer. This value will be hard-programmed in the chip once and forever for each board but we will be able to offer a variety of boards with different values programmed in.
