BbCodes in Signatures
Good morning! I just started a board a few days ago and we are having a great time with it!

We seem to all be having trouble using the BbCodes in a signature. The only way it will work is if we create the sig in the body of a post, and then copy and paste the sig with the code into the sig edit page.

:thankyou:

Re: BbCodes in Signatures
can you explain what trouble you are having with the sigs and BbCodes? to make one go to your user cp area, click edit sigs, at the very bottom of the page is where you will add a new one. you can preview the sig by checking the box to see if it is correct before submitting as well

Once and awhile that happens to one of my members and I have them copy and paste exactly what's in their sig and pm it to me in the code tags. That way I can see what's going on their end. 9 out of 10 times, they don't have a closing tag...ie. [/img], etc.
When you type it out in a post you get to see right away if you missed something, and you can fix it right away.
My guess, and it would just be a guess, is that when the members are adding their signatures they are not closing all the tags or are missing something. Something that they can automatically put in using the reply feature when posting.
Does that make any sense?

I see what you're saying, but I'm having trouble with it too. In the "edit signature" box - when we try to use BbCodes it places the codes in the wrong spots. Like if I highlight a section of tex, it actually puts all of the code at the end and not around it.

We are all having this issue, including me. It works fine in a thread or reply, but not in the signature windows.

Re: BbCodes in Signatures
you need to copy and paste the code of what your sig will be then in the edit sig box go to the bbcodes, pick the one you need it will appear in the box, in between the brackets like this
Code:

  [img] put code here [/img]

paste the info like it would be in a post. then preview if it looks right them save.

The biggiest thing to worry about with having numerous bbcodes is properly 'nesting' them. So that you would follow a pattern simliar to this:

Code:

[color=red][font face=arial]Hello[b] this would be bold[/b]

and [i]this would be italic[/i][/font][/color]

Re: BbCodes in Signatures
I understand how the Bbcodes are supposed to work. They work fine in the body of our messages - but they do not work in our "edit signature" window.

Instead of placing the code AROUND the word, it places both codes AFTER the word.

It is not working right.

Also, for some reason I can't get moods to show up right, but that's another post.

Re: BbCodes in Signatures
Hi Chris! I just got what you're seeing as a problem, I think, but it's not actually anything isn't working right. It's just how edit sigs works.

For an image sig, you need to click IMG in the list of BbCodes first, and you'll get a popup window asking you for the URL of the image. If you add it there, then when it's inserted into the box, it will display properly. If someone cancels that popup prompt though, you will get the IMG tags in the box but it will say Null where the URL should be. If you'd already put the image url in the box first, then yes those tags would be after instead of around.

Same thing for text. If you want a text sig, with an effect, like maybe Glow, you need to click the code for the effect you want first. The tags will be inserted into the post and then you need to actually insert your text between the opening and closing tags. If you type your text first, highlight it and try to get the tags to surround it, it won't do that. It will put the tags at the end of the text, but that's normal for edit sigs and not an issue or anything ya'll are doing wrong.

Hope this helps a little
