2 Problems - user cp and edit emoticons ( 02:13:18 FriNov 29 2002 )

Board Plan: IE6

Problem 1. - every time I go to my user cp on my site it gives me "page cannot be displayed" when I go to it here on the support forum it tells me I need to log in(but I already am) so I try to login in again anyways and it still tells me I need to log in.

Problem 2. - when I go to my admin section and "edit emoticons" the drop down menu on the right hand side(edit,delete,etc.) keeps disappearing?? I'm trying to delete some Thanksgiving emoticons and add some Christmas ones but that hard to do when the drop down menu keeps disappearing :ohwell:

I have deleted my temporary internet files and the cache but that didn't seem to help any. do you maybe know what the problem would be?

#1 - the "page cannot be displayed" is unusual. Does a refresh bring it up? Telling you to log in might be happening if you're using cookieless login? Try using regular login if you aren't :smile:

#2 - Sounds like you're running out of memory - especially if you have a lot of emoticons there. Try closing a couple of windows, or rebooting, usually does the trick. :smile:

ok i can finally get into my user cp, and no I never use the cookieless log in. that was weird but I'm glad it's working now

I restarted, cleared my cache, temp files and those drop down menus are still disappearing. I do have alot of emoticons but I've never had this problem before. I also only have the one window open. does it work fine for you when you go in there?

There's been a change to this screen with the last release, there weren't any drop down menus before. I wonder if perhaps you aren't waiting for all the emoticons to load before trying to edit or delete? There are a lot of them and quite a few are animated too.

Once they'd all loaded (would be faster for you of course, as they'd be in your cache), I found no problem with the drop down boxes. :smile:

Thanks for checking! I really am dumbfounded over this as I am waiting for them to load and am still having problems. I didn't have these problems before :ohwell:

Well, like I said before, this screen is now different from how it used to be. You do need a fair bit of available RAM for a page with so many animated emoticons plus the drop down boxes. Try rebooting and make sure you don't have any resource hungry programs (like graphics programs) running in the background. :smile:

that's just it, I have rebooted and don't have ANY other programs running

Hmm, well I don't know what else to suggest really. :smile:

What browser and version are you using? And do you have trouble with any other drop-down boxes, such as the ones on your Edit Posticons screen? The only thing that's changed on this screen is the addition of those boxes. :smile:

I'm using IE6, and no I'm not having any problems on any other screen than the edit emoticons.

I have the same number(animated too) of emoticons I had before that screen was changed and I never had any problems before. :ohwell:

Thanks! I kinda got it, I can add some with no problem because I don't have to use the drop down boxes to do that. but to delete some I have to scroll down to the one I want to delete and hit refresh so the drop down menu is next to the emoticon. if I scroll up or down at all that's when the drop down boxes disappear.
