It sounds like you are still subscribed to one or more forums - you'll need to check the forum subscribe link(s) at the bottom of each one. They will tell you if you are subscribed or not. If you are subscribed to a forum, the notify email will have a title of "New thread: blah blah".

You could also be subscribed to threads, in which case the email will say "New reply to blah blah". In that case, click on the email link and when you are in the thread, click the "Un-Notify" link at the top.

Re: notify ( 17:59:28 SunJun 29 2003 )

it's neither of those because I checked the forums I was getting emails from and they have the option to click that says "subscribe to" and it's not that I'm subscribed to a thread because I'm getting new threads that I didn't reply to yet.

You ARE subscribed to thread 14, so you need to click the un-notify link for that thread.

You are not subscribed to forums 1 or 50. I'm thinking you may be subscribed to individual threads in those forums though. You don't need to have replied to a thread in order to receive notifications of it.

Re: notify ( 03:11:00 WedJul 2 2003 )

but I'm getting emails for brand new threads before I even post in them so I don't understand how I could be subscribed to the thread itself. And if it's automatically subscribing me to an individual thread how do I get it to stop? Or am I going to have to actually go through the hassel of having to click un notify every time? I didn't have it before so I was hoping there is away

Like I said before, you don't need to have posted in a thread in order to request notification of replies. It sounds to me as though you are accidentally clicking the "Notify" button. I can't think of any other reason why this is happening.

okay, well that stinks because it's in forums that I rarely go in so I'm not sure how I'd accidently click it .. thanks for all the help though

Re: notify ( 04:08:04 WedJul 2 2003 )

When you get the notification email, does it say

"New thread: blah blah"

or does it say

"New reply to blah blah" ?

If it says "New reply to blah blah", then you must have subscribed to the thread and you will need to click the "Un-Notify" link at the top of the thread page.

The Notify button is a "toggle" switch. If you find that a thread has "Un-Notify" at the top, just click that and you'll stop the email notifications of replies.

you should only have to un notify once and you won't get the e mails... unless somehow you hit notify again

You see where I said above:

Well, you haven't clicked the un-notify link, which is why you're still getting emails for that thread. I noticed a couple of other threads you are still subscribed to as well...

Re: notify ( 05:02:55 WedJul 2 2003 )

I understand that, I haven't clicked un notify on that one yet but there are mulitple threads that I'm getting it for that I never even push notify on. Like for instance we do a Night Owels thread every night in our chitter chatters forum. I go in, read, and reply and next thing I know I'm getting emails WITH OUT pressing the notify button

Re: notify ( 05:12:31 WedJul 2 2003 )

Is there someone at your house who could be reading threads and clicking the "Notify" button? A child perhaps? Someone has to be doing it, it can't happen by itself.

Anyway, as mentioned above, you will just have to click the Un-Notify button every time you come across one at the top of a thread - there is no other way to unsubscribe. I'm sorry, but we can't help you any more on this.
