Hi Folks,
I'm "attempting" to post a picture of a strange "river rock"? formation I drove by in one of the canyons nearby where I live in Utah. The main formation is hundreds of feet high, with outcroppings of formations closer to a river which is about 100 yards across the highway. I'd appreciate anyone's opinion of what it is we're looking at. At the very top of the main canyon wall, I could not see much river rock, but near the base of the formations, river rock is heavily compacted. The mud? between the rocks is completely solidified and rock-like in hardness. Thanks! Dave |

Howdy Dave
Without pictures, or even better hands on the formation, it may be a bit hard to give you a correct answer. It does however, sound to me like you could be looking at a conglomerate bed that may have nothing to do with the current river there. |

Dave,
There are picture posting directions at the top of the forums. But here is the link anyway. http://www.marciesalaskaweb.com/webdesign/image_posting_49ers.htm If you follow them you will be able to post the pic. If you still have trouble getting the pic up there, just send it to me and I'll see what I can do.
