Boulders Improve Fish Habitat ( 18:31:46 WedFeb 11 2009 )

Here is an interesting article about how the Canadians are improving fish habitat (salmon & trout) by actually placing a series of 5-7 boulders within waterways to improve fish habitat.

http://www.forrex.org/Streamline/ISS6/streamline_vol2_no3_art7.pdf

These people understand how fish and wildlife are best managed by using "mother natures" own resources to emulate natural conditions. But these methods are obviously very expensive.

Here in the U.S. gold dredgers do the very same thing in many streams across the west and don't charge anyone a dime for their labor. We dredgers are actually doing a great service for our ecosystem and yet we are being accused of the doing the exact opposite.

Most of us dredgers have witnessed how fish are attracted to cool water pools, underwater ledges, and various kinds of obstructions...most certainly groups of boulders. There is simply no way to refute the facts.

Just my 2 cents...
