I've had direct reports that there is more liter from sport fishermen than normal on the Rogue this year. What better way to educate the general public about the truth of small scale mining than to make an effort towards cleaning the liter up and collecting it into a traveling trailer. I'm sure the media will be around at some point this summer to doument. Actions speak louder than words! Just saying.Maybe some kind of club insignia on said trailer.

I wanted to make a video last year about this but my camera was lost to a tragic boating accident. I'm hoping to get a new one this year though.

I grew up on this stretch of river in the 50's and was a river rat when it was'nt fashionable to the folks in town.My father, brother and I built a Mckenzie river boat and spent many a day on the river and at that time there was very little liter. Now it seems like it is a training ground for idjits to learn about the out of doors. All I am saying is that this summer would be a great time for a group of small scale miners to build on a positive image for themselves by not only cleaning the river below the waterline but also above the waterline. This is not meant to be a us vs. them notion. The river should be, in my opinion, for all user groups. Members of the diferent user groups come in diferent stages of experience and by setting a good example you may just find that you will gain allys to your activities. This country needs to heal and we all need to get along the best we can.The way I see it your club tells the truth and in the end the truth will prevail.BTW The spring run of Chinook salmon in the Rogue has a very high oil content so as to make it's way upriver against those very strong currents that the river had before the dam. If you ever get a chance to dine on one don't pass up the opportunity! Good luck to you all and be safe!
