Not again!!!

Hi everyone
You wouldnt think it could happen two weeks in a row would you.

I let the girls out in the garden whilst I was working in the kitchen yesterday afternoon. Rosie came in after a while. I had stayed out a while with them but had to come in as the midges were biting too hard! Always kept Katie in sight but she is good now anyway and kept coming to see what I was doing.

Next I know she runs in at full pelt looking terrified holding a hind leg up. Wouldnt let me near to it, I was sure we would have to take a trip to the vets. Determined it was not the leg and did examine the foot but saw nothing. Trying to examine between the toes was a definite no/no. Sat and cuddled her until she fell asleep but the poor little foot twitched for ages. When she woke she was walking on it although still unsure. Went and ate her tea so I knew it was easing. When we came up to bed, got a quick look between the toes. Between middle two it looked like either a bite or a jab on something. One of the toes was swollen slightly. Gave her antihistamines. This morning all was well, no swelling or irritation but will keep her on antihistamines for few days anyway. She must have stood on something. My initial thought was a wasp as at this time of year they are dying off and dangerous little blighters.

Bees okay but wasps are like flies - I swat them!

Re: Not again!!!

Do you have any stinging nettles or thistles in the garden? My last girl used to react quite badly to them?

Just a thought!

We have been really lucky here, not seen a single wasp this year - bargain as I have a complete phobia of them!

Hope Katie is ok

Re: Not again!!!

This is going to sound stupid I know but........ If you have an Avon Rep get some Skin So Soft dry oil spray, woodland fresh. Give your dogs a slight dusting(and you) with it before going out if you are going to be arround midges. It works! you wont or your dog get bitten!!!
My son poohood this before going to Iraq but took it. He was the only one that wasn't bothered by nasty bites. I got an order for 38 bottles!!!! The royals smelt lovely!!!

Re: Not again!!!

They obviously like baby soft skin! I use the stuff on holiday so the mozzys dont bite me (and it works!!) Its a pity it doesnt work on Jinny spinners (daddy longlegs) cos them buggers with their waffy legs scare the bejasus out of me.

Re: Not again!!!

I dont mind the daddylonglegs which is crazy as I dont like spiders, well I can move them on but have been known to lift them out of the way but dont like them if you know what I mean. There are some nettles Karen but not so many now that I have a chap comes to cut the grass for me and chop larger weeds down but its a valid point.

Ive bought Avon for years Jacqui. Couldve cried when my last rep decided to give it up - love their hand and foot moist pads - things like wet ones - oh I am so forgetful on names of things!!!! Freshener squares I think they are called or something like that. Always keep a packet in the car as they are far better than wet ones. As one door closes another opens - secretary down in theatres now does it so I gave her an order just before I came out on leave. Next time she brings the catalogue in, I will order some - I was only out in the garden tonight for about 10 mins and my head must have had 100 in it, well probably 2 or 3 but it felt like a lot more!!

Shes fine today.
