I have just had the pleaseure of bathing three boxers one after the other!!!!!
I am soaked - but it was fun. I usually get my husband to do it as I hate getting so wet and smelling so doggy but he is on late shifts this week and they really did need a bath! First I bathed Tia - she absolutely loves water and drinks half off it and splashes about so much that the rest of it ends up on the bathroom floor. But she is good and every time she goes to shake, if i tell her to wait she does until i hold the towel up and then she really goes for it. Not that the towel made much difference with how wet i was already. Then it was Kirei's turn - she hates water and as our dogs don't go upstairs normally she knows what is coming when i take her to the bottom of the stairs. She tried to stop me pulling her up there and when she got to the top she made a quick dash for the bedroom - around the bed, back over it and back down the stairs - with me chasing her. I don't know why she hates water so much, she doesn't like swimming in the river either????? Anyway i finally got her in the bath and spent the whole time trying to stop her getting back out again. She looks so clean and gleaming white now though that it was worth the trouble. And then came Henry Monster. It is the first time i have ever given him a bath so i didn't know what to expect. He was a combination of Tia and Kirei, liked splashing in the water and drinking it but i think that was just a way of trying to sneak back out again. He is lying on the settee now giving me such evil looks!!!! I think i will leave bathtime to Brendan in the future as i feel as if they are blaming me for being wet and cold - even though i used eight fluffy towels on them - they are just not happy!! Now i am about to upset the parrot (Charlie) as he hates having his cage cleaned and that is my next job, I am not going to be very popular at all tonight. I think i will have a bath myself straight after that and go to bed, hopefully by the morning they will have forgotten all about it and forgiven me. I hope so as i usually get big kisses and cuddles off Henry Monster before i go to work - i think he just likes to cover me in hairs before work! I need those boxer kisses and cuddles to get me through the day!!!!! Is bathtime so stressful for everyone else or do your babies make it nice and easy for you??? I suppose having three - one after the other doesn't help!! Caroline and the poor upset babies xxxx

Well...... that sounded like fun!! Not! You certainly had you work cut out for you there!!
Sasha is pretty good really. She doesnt particularly like having a bath, she "puts up with it" to some degree. She knows that if I call her upstairs, then its for a bath so she doesnt bother coming!! I have even tried enticing her up with a biscuit to no avail. We normally manage to chase her up the stairs, but the trick is to shut every door other than the bathroom, then there is no escape!! The bathroom door gets shut and isnt opened until she has been towelled!! I lift her in and tend to put the plug in while I shower her which leaves her paddling really - mind you I dont know how the bath fills at all as she is drinking it quicker than it comes out of the shower!! She stands there and lets me get on with it and knows she has to wait until I have the towel wrapped round her before she can get out. I have found that if I dry her head off first, she is less desperate to shake. I rub her down, dry her paws and then let her go - which she does! Straight out of the door, down the stairs, runs round the living room several times and then plonks herself in front of the biscuit barrel!! Boxers eh!! Karen |

I bathed Sasha on Sunday. What a laugh! She knew exactly where she was going! Got her into the bath, all nice and soapy, then she jumped out , into my room over my bed yuck and back into the bath again. Only this time I kept a hold of her
![]() Blue is a big softy, he just stands there and waits untill I have finished then.........................................................Lookout!!!!!! he tears about the house shakeing himselve everywhere. If it's in the summer he goes into the garden and rolls on the grass. I end up feeling "well what was the point"? He's all grassy again!!:roundnround: |

Mention "bath" and Daz heads for the hills. Once caught and put in the bath, he puts up with it, head down.

Aah now you see the problem is you have to get in with them - honest. Right what you do is half fill the bath plonk the dog in and jump in with them.
I usually stand in the bath and jam Molly or tash between my legs - escape is futile. I did try the usual way of not being in the bath with them but it was like a scene from fawlty towers - slippery soaking wet dogs running around the house and a bedraggled owner trying to put them back in!!! Once they know they can't get away they relax and let you get on with it - I al;ways make sure Lynne is near by to dry them off which of course they love. The only down side is you smell a bit doggy until you have your next monthly bath ha ha ha. Paul |

Polo enjoys being bathed, but like others spends most of his time drinking the water

Thanks for the advice Paul, but i don't think i will be getting in with them!!!!!!
At least i am not the only one that has problems when it comes to bathtime. At least ours don't go over the bed after they have been in the bath - just when we are trying to get them in there. I bet you will be making sure your bedroom door is closed next time Jackie. I must admit once i get them in the bathroom i do close and lock the door until they have been towel dried. As our bathroom is so tiny though it doesn't give me much room!! I think it will just be hubbies job in future - he seems to cope with it a lot better than i do!! Caroline

Polo was bathed yesterday, he came back from his walk filthy, and as my youngest is coming back from Austria today I thought it would be nice as she loves it when he's been bathed. He smells all clean now and his fur is so soft :loveya: The best bit was my eldest daughter was hoovering the stairs when Polo came down so he stood in front of the hoover where the warm air was blowing out - blow drying himself, what a clever dog :roundnround:

I wish ours would let us blow dry them, they hate it which means they run around wet for ages , soaking our legs as they run past. Especially Kirei, her fur seems a lot thicker than Tia's and takes a lot longer to dry.
It cetainly seems that Polo knew what he was doing when he stopped by the hoover. They can be so clever, but are just so mad at the same time..... thats why we love em!!!!! Caroline, Tia, kirei and Henry Monster xxxx

My last girl would sit in front of the tumble dryer when I didnt have the hose on it!
In our first house with her, we had hot air vent heating (anyone know what I mean by that??!!) Anyway, we used to take the grill off the living room vent to get more heat out. We could never understand why the room didnt warm up, until we discovered Katie halfway up the vent!! God knows how she got there - but she knew what she was doing! Boxers do love to be warm and comfortable! Karen ![]() |
