Hi Everyone Its official - there is a white peril with a brindle patch on its rump running around our house/garden. This creature waits until your back is turned for an instant then with great cunning leaps into attack - nothing is sacred in the garden as the great "dig as deep as you can" commences and earth, grass, sticks and stones fly everywhere. This white peril will also search out books and chew them to shreds, magazines get the same treatment. Even when you are there, the menace digs up sections of carpet and tries to roll them into a ball. Lino is also dug up and chewed with great enthusiasm and the bits deposited in the middle of the floor. When you bend down to pick up the frayed carpet/chewed up bits of lino, the white peril thinks with glee this is the perfect invitation to play and suddenly up comes the head which at times can feel like granite as the head smacks into your glasses. As you stagger up again slightly dazed you realise your glasses no longer fit snugly on your nose but loosely hang to one side. The peril also detects that the reason you are sleeping in the heatwave with only a sheet over you is because the duvet has fallen on the floor. Peril lies beside you as much as their own bed is comfy, yours is better! You waken up gasping for air and reach for the fan and realise the reason you cant is because the white peril is lying stretched out OVER the bed and you are hanging out the other side. After a hard day at work, house work etc, walking/training/playing with the dogs you sit down to relax when the white peril appears at your side having had five [or less] minutes rest wanting attention. You smile weakly and toss a toy across the room. You have just taken a sip of your cool fizzy drink when out of nowhere the white peril lands on your knee gazing into your face and a warm pink tongue slurps across your face [smudging your glass in the process] - the expression says it all - "Come on, get up, I want attention". Some 15 minutes later you stagger back indoors, the white peril lopping behind you. The sofa seems ever so inviting and just as you get comfy, the white peril appears with limpid eyes in front of you, peril cannot lie on that hard floor, beside you on the sofa is much better. And as you gaze into those dark brown eyes, the peril's head resting on your knee you know exactly what the expression "puppy love" means. What better way to relax than white peril snoring beside you. No longer white peril but dear little [butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth] "Katiesnowflake". Then as you relax you reach down the side of the sofa to gently stroke a big red head asleep on her dog soft cushioned dog mat, ah but that is another tale.......................... Helen |
