Hi all,
My husband and I are currently looking at purchasing a puppy from a fantastic and helpful breeder in our area. There is a brindle female, a fawn female, and two white females available. Both of the parents have great and healthy backgrounds with health and longevity on their side and have wonderful temperaments. When we visited last night we were asked which puppy we would be interested in. Initially after reading about some health issues that white boxers have had I am curious how many of you have experiences health issues with your dogs. I am also curious if anyone knows if the odds of a white boxer being deaf would be related to the health of their bloodline? Thanks!! |

My white boxer has had a healthy boxer life, it's my reverse brindle that has all the problems!
White boxers are at no higher risk of any health issues than other coloured boxers, there is a slightly higher chance of them being deaf though, but you can ask the breeder to check that with the vet before it is sold.

we previously had a deaf white...had no clue she was deaf till after we had her. there are alot of things u can do, when they are ready to rehome to ensure they are not dead....we actually just just got a new one and i am sure hte guy thought i was nuts! he would be across the yard, and i would jangle my keys. he turned his head. if he was deaf hed have had no clue! if they are alone when you are there. chili was asleep in the igloo doghouse fast asleep when we were there, all the other pups in her litter were attacking us and giving puppy kisses to everyone. we have a 5 year old fawn, and white or fawn or brindle, no difference exept deafness in health that i have observed. but even deafness is not all that bad!! my chili was the sweetest loveable dog EVER

I agree with both Karen and Mindy - although ~Mindy's typo makes funny reading!!!
I am on my 3rd Boxer adn he is my first white. I would say he has had no more health problems than my 2 reds had. Both my reds had spondylosis, 1 of them had eye problems too. Gixer (my white) has had lumps, epulis (benign tumours on the gums) and unfortunately has a heart problem but these things are not because he's white these are things all Boxers are prone to. I would advise you finding out if the breeder has had the pups heart checked as there are a couple of problems Boxers can have with their hearts. Hopefully I haven't scared you off Boxers. Despite a few health issues (which all breeds are prone to something) they are a fantastic breed that you will have loads of fun with,

Thanks for your responses!
We are getting a gorgeous white girl and as far as we can tell there are no health issues mom and dad are both healthy and they come from a very good line. The whole litter will visit the vet to get checked before we take them home and I'll have time after we take her home to get checked as well. We are really happy with our breeder and we are very excited to take our girl home! Thank you guys for sharing your thoughts and experiences, they definitely helped and made us MORE excited for our new addition! And lots of thanks to our breeder Paul from Halton Hill Boxers for all of his help in the process! http://www.haltonhillboxers.com/ |

We got the white with the patch on her right ear there aren't too many pictures on the website of her but we took lots.
We visited last night and she is the sweetest thing cuddling with my husband and my sister and I. We are SO excited to bring her home soon! My little sister was nervous about visiting because she knows that puppies chew but all she got were lots of cuddles and kisses! |
