Well Folks
Katie and I had a falling out this afternoon! I had bent down to pick something off the floor in the conservatory and she bounded over, jumped up and her boxer concrete head hit me "smack" [yes, the glasses got it again] in the face. Now, I dont mind some things but if she had did this to one of my parents not only would she had knocked them over, but could have hurt them in the process. Katie got told off in no uncertain terms and "ignored" for 10 minutes. I'd like to say it worried her being ignored but it was more a case of "Hmm, I will keep out of mum's way for a bit, think I will go and annoy Rosie instead" ![]() At 9 months old she is just maddening and adorable all at the same time!! ![]() Helen |

Hi Helen
Sounds painful - they certainly can be strong!! I dont know if you agree with the gravel in the bottle treatment, but I used it to stop Sasha doing exactly the same thing as I have a six year old and she is often in the school playground. I dont allow her to jump up on anyone and as soon as she does, I shake the bottle and she stops and just turns herself inside out and upside down trying to say hello to them, but all four feet stay on the floor. She never never never jumps at me for some reason - I think she knows who is boss! But if she does, I just look at her and she knows she has done wrong. I was worried about her knocking over children when they came round etc, so whenever anyone comes in, I have the bottle ready, but more often and not these days I dont have to use it. Might be worth a try on your wee Rosie? Hope the glasses arent broken!

Wiseman say - watch head in house of boxer, for boxer has bone head that feels no pain! he who meets with head will feel very unwise!
Now let me count the No of times Molly has bust my lip, too many to mention - bone head was a name my brother in law gave our 2 as they always jump up at him and nearly knock him out. I don't think he helps himself though as he lies on the floor and play fights with them - more fool him!! Heres a litle tip when you need to bend down to do something - close the door of the room you are in and make sure you have not left your kangaroo boxer in the same room, if only life was that simple - Molly usually waits till you least expect it and then wham she has knocked you over and then stealthy tash comes and sits on you and cleans your nostrills out with her tongue - - - mmmmmmmmmmmmmm nice!!!!! The best bit is watching Lynne being mauled by them as they both sit on her head or chest so she can't get up and then lick her to death which makes her laugh - so what do they do lick her more - what do I do, nothing just watch and laugh!! Their is nothing better than watching your other half getting a tongue sandwhich of fyour beloved boxers, even more satidfying is the fact Lynne can't get up because she has 9 - 10 stone of dog on top of her. I love her really - honest!! Finally wiseman say - he who has boxer laughs the loudest and hardest, but he who has boxer sat on chest should not laugh at all!! Now where did I leave my tranquilisers???? Paul |

Absolutely brilliant Paul! I think anyone with a Boxer not only has to have a sense of humour but is obviously very intelligent as well.
We should all get together and write a book on boxers!! How are Cariad and Mair? Karen: I trained Rosie that way thanks for the tip. However it made Rosie very jumpy and took a while to desensitise her so I resolved never to do it again. However needs must and one day Katie was being obnoxious out in the garden, leaping on top of Rosie when she was trying to "wee". I had their two metal dishes in my hand so "clanged" them together which made Madam look up and come to investigate. A bunch of keys are good too. Last time I used mine when I went to get the car from the garage - no key. It had come off the bunch when I had been dropping them down beside Katie. Big panic as there is only the one key. The owner couldnt find the spare key. Found mine eventually under the chair I sit in. Generally what I do is just push her down again, no commands, when she leaps up, push her down firmly. Chap I met some years ago at demonstration showed us how to do it. Mind you he had the patience of a saint as the dog in question [young GSD] seemed to keep it up indefinitely. Eventually it got the message but it was a long long time. Its funny though as so many of the things that Rosie did, Katie is doing too. How is your little girl now, is she fully recovered? Helen |

Hello everyone
Mair and Cariad are both doing great - mair is toilet training at the moment and doing really well, only the odd accident so as she says "mairs a big girl now!" which she is, especially in the physical sense. If she carrys on growing at the rate she is she is going to be 6 ft tall!! In her nursery class at school which has children from 2 - 3 1/2 she is the tallest which is quite an achievement considering she is 2 and 8 months, she simply dwarfs some of her class mates. Cariad is doing really well except for the fact that she has a habit of bringing back quite a bit of her bottles - but the doctors say she is OK and that a few children do suffer from it. She has started smiling and even makes some gurgling noises! Sleep is still lacking but Cariad is sleeping from 1.00am through to 8.30am which is good but we need to get her going down earlier and waking up at say 7.30 so that we both can start getting back into a decent sleep pattern as the late nights are talking their toll!! Mustn't complain because everybody says we are really lucky to have such a settled child - bear in mind Mair slept from 10.00pm - 8.00am from 2 months old which is why we are struggling a bit, we have been very spoilt! It could be worse a friend of ours was lucky to get 3 hours sleep in any one night and not all together ususally 1 hour at a time!!!! I would die if our 2 were like that. Regarding the jumping up thing we found that if you completely ignore them when you get in they usually go and lie down which then allows you to compose yourself and then you can say hello to them in your own time - Molly hates it but it's better than a head butt off her!! We always tell visitors to completely ignore both of them if they choose to do otherwise we explain the consequences so on their own head be it!! I will try and post some new pics of the girls soon. Take care all, Paul |

Excellent Paul, the girls sound like they are thriving!! Obviously there is something extremely good about the South Wales air!! Please do post pics soon!
Helen, if Sasha does jump up at me I do what the trainer did and that was to cross my arms and look the other way - as soon as she jumps down - mega attention!! I am sure you know all that though!! Katie just sounds like she is enjoying life big time - I just hope you dont end up with concussion in the meantime!! Sasha was nearly 8 months before we started using the bottle and she had been pretty badly treated before - maybe that's why it didnt upset her much? Enjoy!!

We don't get headbutted by Polo so much, he just booby traps 'his' stool -
![]() -it has a lift up lid & we store catalogues etc in it - the only trouble is if we lift up the lid when Polo is about he jumps on it to close it, trapping anything left in the way - extremely painful if he catches your arm or even head ![]()

Maybe Linda Polo has a secret stash of some kind in the stool and he thinks you are trying to nick it - now had you thought of that one!
I can just imagine polo opening the lid, removing the magazines etc and then hiding items of boxer value in the stool, replacing the magazines, closing the lid and then for good measure sitting on the top of it with that boxer "what" look !! Who knows whats in Polos foot stool - i mean when was the last time you managed to open it without loosing a finger??? AAAAhhhhhh now your thinking - - - -- -- yes I know probably that Paul is mad!! But you never know. Anyway must go now time for my straight jacket........ Take care all - brilliant picture Linda. Paul |
