A Wee Nip and Tuck!

Heskey went to the Vets yesterday for his "wee" op. Unfortunately as he had an undescended testicle it meant more of a major operation. The instructions from the vet are to keep him quiet for the next 10 days and to only let him in the yard to do what a dog has to do! The vet obviously has no idea that quiet isnt a word that boxers understand! Heskey refuses to "go" in the yard so Mike took him to a quiet field this morning. Had to let him off the lead as still refusing to "go", at which point Heskey decided to run like merry hell after a dog on the horizon! Wonder if sending Mike for the op would give him all that extra energy?????

Aww bless. Hope Heskey is back to his normal self soon. I assume that if he had a medical reason for the snip - you can claim on insurance! Bargain!

I gave up trying to keep Sasha quiet - like trying to stop the wind blowing!

ahhh, havent got around to the insurance thing yet! all in all it only cost 70 so thats not to bad. As for Mike, he lies around already feeling sorry for himself! The only difference now is that he has a rather large dog bouncing all over him!

Re: A Wee Nip and Tuck!

I totally agree - Boxers cannot be kept quiet!!!!!!!!!!

When Henry went for his op, I bought him home and tried to get him to lie down and rest - all he wanted was to see the others and jump around with them, he hadn't even recovered properly from the anaesthetic and was still wobbly on his feet but all he could think of was playing!!!!

I hope Heskey has a speedy recovery. I know of another boxer that only had one testicle descended and the owner was told to have it done as early as possible as it can cause cancer if it is not done because of the extra heat around the testicle. Once the testicles are descended the are naturally cooler as they are outside of the body. You did the right thing getting it done Liz.

70 is a good price for that op especially considering that he had an undescended one - It cost us 130 for Henry and the dog that we knew of that had an undescended one cost 250. You can definately claim for that on the insurance, however by the time you had paid the excess there wouldn't be much left to claim anyway.

Get well soon Heskey xxxx

Caroline, Tia, Kirei and Henry Monster xxxx

My Legs are crossed in sympathy for heskey!!!! Hope he feels better soon.

Keep him quiet - not likely, boxers don't know the meaning of the word Liz as I am sure you are well aware. Our 2 were a nightmare after their ops so I don't envy you at the moment.

Fingers crossed his recovery is a quick one.

When our old dog (not a boxer) had his little op, we were letting him out in the evening, he fell over the back doorstep as he was still quite wobbly - then jumped over the back fence, catching himself and opening his stitches as a result, which meant a late night trip back to the vets - Polo is a dream in comparison

Yep i agree !! Boxers cant keep calm + quiet when Homer had the snip i let him in the back garden for a wee unsupervised for 2 mins !!!!! when i looked out he had ripped lampshade off and pulled all of stitches out ! there was just a big hole in him!, In a horriffic panic i called the emergency vet who said ahhh is it the White Boxer Homer? we rushed him to the vets and he was not even bothered in the slightest he drags me into the vets as he knows everyone fusses over him in there and he had to have the wound stapled shut what a drama :newtonguesmile:Crazy Boxers!!!
Dee was totaly the opposite tho an angel :lol:sad:compared to Homer )
Best of LUCK keeping Heskey calm

Re: A Wee Nip and Tuck!

Stitches out tomorrow folks - i cant wait, the damn dogs gone stir crazy!!! Mike took him out on Friday and let him off the lead to do what a dogs got to do (having checked there were no dogs about to run and play with). Heskey took off through 3 fields until he found a playmate, which left Mike panicing as he thought he had lost him. Stitches havent slowed Heskey in the slightest, hes as barking mad as ever!!!! Need to check tomorrow that his abdo wound hasnt herniated, but apart from that you wouldnt think hed had anything done.

Re: A Wee Nip and Tuck!

Heskeys grand as owt. They think the swelling in his stomach is a reaction to the dissolveable stiches and will settle, but have to watch that what goes in one end comes out the other end with no problems (oh what joy)!

Will get Mike to post some more pictures - he ain half grown! (Heskey not Mike!!)
