Re: Back to the vets again

Was supposed to be back at the vets today to have the staples out but took him yesterday as things were looking a little inflamed  he'd been bleeding a little over the weekend, but seemed to be coming from the staples rather than the wound itself.

Vet took out some of the staples, hopefully the rest will be coming out Thursday, but they gave him a buster collar, much to his disgust, to give the wound extra protection over the next few days.

Had to feed him by hand last night as he was being really pathetic about his collar - took me ages to get him through the door at the vets as he couldn't work it out :dunno: he's been a bit better today though

Awww love him.

Sasha hates her collar and loses the ability to move or do anything. Can you take it off him so he can eat etc. I had to with her.

Good luck

Re: Back to the vets again

Had a tough week, got the all clear from the vets Monday afternoon, they were happy with the healing & said the buster collar could go :cheering:

Took him out for his 10 minute walk Monday night & he ended up hopping home, the only thing we could think of was after he'd done a poo was he'd scratched out with his back legs, I'm sure you'll know what I mean, and after that couldn't walk on his leg  It was exactly like he'd been before his op. We were so depressed, we'd followed the instructions from the vets but everything seemed to have gone so wrong :crying:

Took him to the vets next day, the vet was great, I think she could tell how upset I was, all I could think of was that they'd have to operate again! She said she couldn't say that he would definitely be OK but she hoped he had just tweaked it, she'd been through something similar herself, similar timescale post-op & had fallen downstairs carrying her puppy & had cried buckets thinking she'd damaged her knee & couldn't possibly face going through it all again

She said to double his anti-inflamatory/painkiller for 3 days & also gave him a different painkiller by injection, which she said would attack from a different direction - this totally zonked him out for the night :smash6: Touch wood he seems OK, go back to the specialists on 29th so just hoping the x-ray will be fine :luck: All I can say it's been an extremely stressful time  though pretty chilled at the moment enjoying birthday drinks

Awww poor Polo!

Linda, I was asking Gemma if she thought Rays had been worth it, considering all he had been through and she said it definitely was. He is so much better than he was!

I know it seems like a long road now, but I am sure he will be 150% soon and you will be able to relax a little more.

Fingers crossed that this was just a hiccup and he will soon be back to his bouncy self.

Re: Back to the vets again

Touch wood he seems fine again now & is back to being bouncy, we have our friends from Scotland coming to stay the next couple of days (on their way to flying out to live in Adelaide :eek:smile: and he always gets Polo really silly so we'll have to make sure he behaves!!!

We'll be nervous going back for his re-xray on the 29th but hopefully everything will be fine & he may be allowed to do a little more, though our vet did say it would be a slow build up over about 6 months :dogwalking:
