Oh thats a shame to hear. Has she been diagnosed with aortic stenosis? or is that what you are waiting for? Gixer has never fainted - he seems to stop before he gets to that stage. Our specialist is great - not been to Potters Bar though we see one in Canterbury. He's told us we can decide whether to let Gixer be a Boxer and take the risk of what will happen or to wrap him in cottone wool. We took the first choice. It will be worth asking your specialist the same thing. It's hard but I think GIxer is happier running when he wants to etc... Keep us informed.

Hi,Have heard our appointment will be on Tuesday 11th Septemeber, she has had a heart scan at our local vets but he didnt mention stenosis,he cant really find anything other than the murmur so its a mystery, vet said it will be between £1500 and £2000 for full diagnosis at the specialist, so we just have to wait now, What has Gixer been diagnosed with?

Squeezeboxplayer 16:10:35 Fri Sep 7 2012 Offline 580 posts Boxer Maniac ![]() ![]() Mood Now: ![]() Reply |
Gixer has a crade 2 murmur and ARVC (Arhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy) - so as well as the murmur he has an irregular heartbeat and an enlarged heart on the right side. common in Boxers. the fainting is usually a sign of stenosis. That's loads for diagnosis. Gixer's initial appointment with is specialist was about £600 but we paid loads more. Hope you're insured. Let us know what you find out. How is she doing. I have been told Gixer probably won't faint his heart is more likely to just stop in the middle of what he's doing. PM me if you want to chat at all and I can share my email, I remember what it was like and having someone who knew to talk to really helped.

Hi,yes it is nice to talk with someone who is going through a similar thing, It is a terrifying thought that we could loose them at any time, Thankfully we got life long insurance for Lolli so hopefully wont cost to much with just the excess and 10% of the final bill to pay, goodness knows what my premium will be next year lol, Lolli is fine at present, its been difficult not taking her for her walks or stopping her running round the garden in her 5 minute frenzys that she has, but next week will arrive and hopefully get to the bottom of it all, it must be hard to watch your dog go through this especially when you love them so much, How do i P.M you my email address?

Now,I'm NOT saying that what your baby has,is the same.BUT!That being said,my Chloe had fainting spells and her last spell was the end.She fainted and passed. Her heart just stopped.
I can never forget that day, although after her passing,it seems a blur. She didn't make it to quite 7 years old, though. She is my pic here. 2 years later,I HAD to have another,so I now have BRODY.So far,no murmers or anything. Keeping all in my thoughts and prayers. |

Sorry to hear that things are not so good. Attended orthopedic specialist with Heskey yesterday as he has done some severe damage to his crutiate ligament and needs an op done. Unfortunatley the specialist heared a murmur so we are now waiting an apointment with a cardiac specialist before he can have his operation. Liz

Good news from heart specialist. He has found grade 2 aortic stenosis which he says he will have had since birth and in the grand scale of things obviously isnt affecting him and that while it wont improve it wont get any worse...evidently it can go up to a grade 5 or 6? No other heart problems found and pronounced Heskey as pretty healthy!! Mind it cost £340 for this but he has done an echograph and shown me some lovely pictures of the inner workings of Heskeys heart. Upwards an onwards to getting his op done now, just waiting for the orthopedic guy to give me some dates.
