Has Spring Sprung?

It doesn't seem that long ago when we were all comparing snow stories and now the daffs have finished and my garden is starting to wake up!

Sasha is loving the fact that she can now spend longer in the garden and is rediscovering all her lost "summer" toys. She has an old pink volleyball ball which is pretty indestructable (might be a top tip for Heskey, Liz) and several frisbies are now languishing in my flower beds!

Mind you, she has taken a liking to bumble bees and these poor, ground hovvering insects are being chased all round the garden by an over enthusiastic idiot! Consequently I have very fit bees in my garden!

Isn't it nice to be outdoors again without having several thermal layers on and a hot water bottle stuffed up your jumper!!

Re: Has Spring Sprung?

Almost summer here!! I guess that makes some sense since we had a crappy winter with no snow!:screams:
We have been wearing shorts and t-shirts for a couple weeks now! I got a sunburn on the weekend! I spent sat. & sun. outside, I stained my lawn chairs and have almost finished staining my front deck. I have the gardens almost all weeded and cleaned up. I have flowers blooming!
My oldest daughter is having a birthday party this weekend so I hope the weather stays nice. She invited 25 kids! 25 TEENAGERS!!!! I made up a list for a scavanger hunt so that they will all be out in the village instead of at my house!! After the hunt we are going to have a bbq. Should be an interesting day!

Hi
I left my thermal vest off on Sunday - was I sorry! Our weather changed - Monday - Tuesday it was like winter again. Brrrrr. Today there was still a cold wind but the sun peeped out a few times inbetween heavy showers.

I wish you luck with the party Nikki!

Helen

Thursday morning, and the sun is out and warm at 7am. There is still a bitter cold breeze coming in off the North Sea though.

Do you know i still maintain that the East of the country is the far better side to live on. Unfortunately now live near west coast and its not nearly as much fun. Has been sunny here for once, but doesnt half get nippy of an evening. Thanks for the suggestion of the ball for Heskey. Eventually got him a big sponge one from the Early Learning Centre, he cant puncture it but we still have to lock it away cos he just keeps pulling chunks of foam off it!

Re: Has Spring Sprung?

I moaned and moaned that we never got any snow in the winter but it seems we are definately getting the best of the weather now. We had 25 degrees Celsius in London yesterday and it should be another hot one today - only problem is i am at work and can't really enjoy it!

When i got home last night it was so hot i got the fan out and had that on all evening. I am definately going to buy an air conditioning unit this year.

Hopefully the weather will stay nice and hot for the weekend when i can enjoy it properly.

Good luck with the party Nicki!!!

Re: Has Spring Sprung?

Good grief - Spring, sounds like you have gone straight so summer Caroline!! I can't remember the last time I needed a fan in the house - probably just before I moved to Scotland!

This is the first day that we have had some really nice weather - despite the BBC saying it was going to be colder today (think they meant London!) Was actually brave enough to take my socks off and wear my mules and May isn't even out yet!

For those who don't normally get to see the sun, thought you might appreciate these - they are taken by a friend of mine and I think they are really cool! (If you'll pardon the pun!)

Hopefully that's not the only way to see it this year!

It's been really warm here the last couple of days, makes a very welcome change :roundnround:

I found out last year that this old saying doesn't actually refer to the month of May, rather the 'May' blossom (another name for the hawthorne blossom) - so you should be ok removing your socks

Re: Has Spring Sprung?

Great here still, beautiful and sunny! The windows are open and the ceiling fans are on! Haven't turned on the air yet, enjoying the fresh air in the house! Still wearing shorts and t-shirts almost 3 weeks now!!! The kids were in the pool yesterday!!!!!! Although the weather is hot, the water is FREEZING, teenagers have no brains I think!
This is great! I am a bit worried though that we are going to have a very hot, humid and dry summer ahead of us...
