I own A 1974 Super beetle and I was thinking of putting 914 motor in it, But realy could find any place that would give me A clear answer asto what needs to be done to fit it in thare. i no it well fit but I know its not as easy as unbolting the 1600cc and putting the 914 motor in a day.

I'm looking to do same thing and also need info. Am considering also water cooled. In general, I have gathered that some kind of bolt-pattern adapter may be needed; possibly some metal cuts to fit some types of engines. I would think that the stock transmission might not last with a stronger engine; and better brakes might also be needed. I'm looking for more knowledgeable answers than my own thoughts.
