Re: 914 to Subaru

Not sure they worked on the new WRX notor, but they have build with 6 cylinder Subie engine into a 914.

I still haven't decided to drop in a WRX Sti or a V6 TDi or a Elcetrc motor?

the guys at the yahoo subaru/vanagon site could be helpful.
there's a great over the counter electric conversion kit for that car too.

Wow! it has been a while.
Finally decided go with the JDM EJ20 Sti motor swap for my 914.
It's in a Fab shop, since I can't weld so well.
Slowly, but it is making progress; hopefully will be done this year for some track days?

This will be a street/track car with AC and heater.

They haven't post more pictures yet, but the engine is already in the car with cable shifter fitted on Subaru 5sp tranny. (yes, I'm going with all subaru powertrain- much lighter and tougher and better design)

I'm trying to make the car lighter because of all the rollcage and stiffening bars added to the car for safety and strength.
Both my doors, front & rear lids and front and rear bumpers are all fiberglass! all interior panels and TAR removed. Hoping to have the car at around 1800 pounds? and the little EJ20K turbo eignine should give me at least 260Hp at the wheels (hoping for 300Hp with mods later), but 200 Hp is plenty for a stock 914.
I'll also upgrade the front suspension to 85' 911 Carrera with Boxster 4 pot caliper all around (with 911 rear parking brakes on the modified 914 rear trailing arms)

Here some pictures of the motor/trans and mount (not real pretty, but much better than what I could do)
As long as all functional right now, all the cosmetic can be fixed later.
