Military engine in Bradley?

I have a bradley gt and happen to have a good military 84 CID horizontally opposed engine that I am considering adapting for this car. 84 CI equals about 1378 cc so not far off from a stock VW engine as far as size. Military says 20 hp but that is extremely conservative. Many homebuilt aircraft people are using these engines in aircraft and are getting close to 50 hp out of them in their stock configuration. The problem is the stock transaxle bell housing is only 11 inches wide and the connections to the mil spec engine are about 16 inches wide. I could make a 1/4" aluminum plate to adapt it and will probably have to as nobody as far as I can see has attempted this in a vehicle yet. Thoughts?
Also I know it is set up for 24 volts dc and that it has a magneto ignition system. All the electrical differences have been solved as well as the starter.
The engine has a flywheel and starter on it now but they are way back in the cooling fan housing. I could use the stock vw starter if I mount the flywheel to the current setup on the engine.

I thought you had a bradley troop carrier--
I think a friend of mine has one of those little flat gen motors--never did anything with it.
